IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE:

IF SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS STRUGGLING WITH THEIR MENTAL HEALTH, KEEP CALM, OFFER A LISTENING EAR, AND BE PRESENT -

GIVE A SHOULDER FOR THEM TO LEAN ON

HERE IS SOME ADVICE FROM PROFESSIONALS ON WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP THOSE WHO YOU ARE

CONCERNED ABOUT:

"Giving someone space to talk, and listening to how they're feeling, can be really helpful in itself.

Reassure someone by letting them know that they are not alone, and that you will be there to help.

Even though it might be upsetting to hear that someone you care about is distressed, try to stay calm. Show them that they can talk to you openly without upsetting you.

Be patient, let them set the pace for seeking support themselves.

Try not to assume that you already know what may have caused their feelings, or what will help

Part of the emotional support you offer could be to keep things as normal as possible."

TALKING IS ALWAYS THE FIRST THING RECOMMENDED, BUT I KNOW THIS CAN BE A HARD THING TO DO.
SO HERE ARE SOME OPTIONS:

- STAY HERE, UNTIL YOU BUILD THE CONFIDENCE TO TALK
- TALK TO ONE PERSON YOU REALLY TRUST
- IF YOU DON'T WANT TO TALK TO SOMEONE YOU KNOW,  TALK TO A STRANGER
(TRY A MENTAL HEALTH GROUP)
- ACCEPT A LISTENING EAR WHEN SOMEONE OFFERS IT
- KNOW THAT TALKING IS THE FIRST STEP - YOU WILL BE OKAY.
